The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Sets Woody and Buzz Against a Digital Device
It has been 30 years after the original Toy Story film debuted, establishing Pixar as a leading animation studio and introducing viewers to beloved characters like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a glimpse into the storyline but leaving viewers curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys
The preview reveals the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — getting a latest toy, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the characters seem to view it as a threat coming to replace them, which it probably is.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the teaser avoids is what Woody is back with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.
Certainly, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have returned with Woody. And where is the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
At the very least, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. The clip shows the badge attached to her outfit.
Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the group.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
