England’s men’s team will initiate their Euro 2028 journey at the Manchester City’s stadium, assuming they attain the expected passage for a competition hosted across most of the United Kingdom and the Ireland.

City’s stadium has not hosted an Three Lions game since eight years ago, when the Turkish team were defeated 2-1 in a warm-up game, but is highly likely to host the England side for their opening fixture on a Saturday in June 2028.

The team are scheduled to play their final two group matches at Wembley, but, in the event of winning the preliminary round, their last-16 tie would occur at St James’ Park. Placing second would mean commencing the elimination stage at Everton’s ground.

Championship Opening and Protest

The tournament was inaugurated at an gathering in a London landmark on Wednesday evening. Key representatives from European football’s governing body and the host football associations were barracked as they entered the location by about 50 protesters, who urged Israel to be removed from the sport because of the Gaza crisis.

Placards were held up with messages saying “Show Israel the red card” and “You are complicit”, while protesters chanted: “Kick Israel out.”

Championship Fixture List

The opening game of Euro 2028 will be held at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, on Friday 9 June, a fixture that will feature Wales if they make it.

Wembley will host the penultimate rounds and the title decider, which will be staged on a Sunday in July 2028 with a kick-off time at 5:00 PM.

It is expected that an earlier start, which will also be adopted for Champions League finals from the following campaign, will cater to households and help reach a broader range of fans.

Qualifying Teams

The Republic of Ireland are due to play their first game at the Dublin Arena and the Tartan Army would do the same at Hampden Park.

Each host nation’s squad will take part in the qualification process; two automatic spots will be set aside for any that miss out on the tournament through the standard process.

Venues and Knockout Stage

Aston Villa’s stadium and Spurs’ ground finalize the nine host stadiums. Each one will hold at least one knockout match, with the quarter-finals held at the national stadium of each host.

The qualifying draw will be staged in the Northern Irish capital, which was excluded as a host city last year when it was revealed the proposed venue could not be upgraded in time, on December 6, 2026.
